The Change Agent - Violence and Parenting - It Takes A Village

My heartfelt condolences go out to the families of today’s senseless violence, by yet another teen acting out. If you are a parent, aunt, uncle, neighbor, brother, sister, or friend of a troubled teen I share the following from Chapter 8, “It Takes a Village” from The Change Agent From – 30,000 Feet.

“With so much teen violence, including adult gun violence, one might assume that these Individual’s acting out their primal aggression'shttps://www.aol.com/article/news/2018/02/14/former-student-kills-17-in-shooting-spree-at-florida-high-school/23361803/

I know from my own personal development and that of M.S.K., that intellectual capacity and emotional maturity do not go hand in hand. In the end emotions are a process, and if we are regressed in our emotional responses without accountability and new data on how to mature we will keep doing, thinking, and repeating those old patterns.

The point is to catch some of these individual’s earlier along their trajectory; not only after they have acted out a cycle of violence. Don’t appease angst in a teen or allow them to hold you an emotional hostage in your own home to their next tantrum. Those are all opportunities for natural consequences that may force change as they are left ultimately with their emotions. I subscribe fully to the involved parenting in “Action” which forced dialogue between parents and children. In some cases, it is the isolated teen acting out violence in life that if identified and corrected earlier that may have prevented their taking of a human life or their own.”

NOW is the only time to help create a paradigm shift in those that we mentor and love. Go make a difference!!!
